Writing Hack #12 of 33—Writing Hacks for Aspiring Authors Who Crave to Be to Published

By Deborah S. Nelson, Author-Book Coach-Speaker

In writing hack #11 we talked about writing tools. I want to speak more about the tools in your writing space—and how to design a Zen writing space. If your space is clear, your mind is clear. And if your mind is clear you can write with clarity! Your writing will be organized and easy to understand.

But how do you create your zen writing space? For starters, you need three basic writing tools.

1. A quiet space

2. A desk

3. A laptop or notebook and pen

Since everyone is different, these are going to vary. For example, my writing space became a 3 month sabbatical to the Caribbean. Now my writing space is in the Caribbean. I know that seems a little drastic, and not everyone can do that—but you can do more than you think you can.

Rent a room in a neighbor’s home or maybe use a family-owned vacation property. Take a month off, weekends away, or even dedicate an entire vacation to writing. These times and places can become your writing spaces. Be creative. Let go of all your normal ideas. Wake up earlier or stay after work for an extra half hour to write. Spend a little time contemplating a creative way to create an amazing writing space for yourself where you look forward to going each day to write.
